Assam is one of the most beautiful northeastern
state of India. Not only in nature Assam is also rich in it’s culture. In this
Assamese culture the one of the most unique and beautiful thing is Assamese
Jewelry. This jewellreys are very unique and beautiful too. Though Assam is full
with Nature so this jewelry styles makes like birds, animal, paddy, Assamese
musical instruments like dhol, Pepa etc. The traditions and attire of Assam
along with its mesmerizing jewelrys styles express the dignity of many tribes
and kingdoms that have constructed the state’s culture. From wild habitats and ancient temples to the

1. Dugdugi: An antique piece of Assamese
jewellery, Dug-dugi is a jewel for a woman’s neck. With its name still being a
contradiction, Dug-dugi is a heart-shaped pendant.

3. Thuriya:These
are the traditional Assamese earrings that are decorated by aged women of
Assam. The traditional Thuriya has a very unique shape. It contains of a front
side that looks like a flower, a thin middle portion, and a wider bottom
portion. Its
design helps the earrings to stay unbroken in the ears. But now it’s very rare
to found, only old ladies are wearing this.

4. Gam
khatu: This is a heavy bracelet/bangle made of silver or gold. Decorated by
Assamese women, Gam-Kharu is one of the most beautiful jewels of Assam. It can
be opened with a golden twist connected to it and therefore, it can fit anyone

5. Jon-biri: In Assamese, Jon means the
Moon and Biri is the concealing designs of Jonbiri. This is an eye-catching fixture
that is decorated by the beautiful women of Assam. Its design is inspired by musical
instruments, nature, and household goods of Assam.

6. Dhol biri :Inspired by Dhol (a
musical instrument), the traditional Dholbiri comes in dhol shape. It is allowed
as one of the most popular garnishing ornaments for Assamese women. It’s also
calls as madoli in many places in Assam.
So these were the traditional jewellery styles worn by the Assamese
women. There many more styles of Assamese Jewelry which is use in Assamese
marriage where the groom side gifts to the bride. This jewelrys are pride of
Assam. At first only Queens and rich people were wearing this but at now
everyone can wear this . But this is take long time to make and hard work too.
